Leak of first Nokia MeeGo handset coming soon

I know this is sorta a weird post but today I was watching quite a lot of videos on the Nokia N900 and the Maemo platform and thought to myself DAMM WHAT A PHONE !!! and became really excited for some odd reason if only Nokia supported it a little more. Eldar promised a leak would appear soon, but considering he is sorta in trouble with Russian authorities and Nokia he might have changed his mind.

Ovi demoed on N8 promotional video

I came across this interesting promotional video of Ovi being shown off on the N8 but with some bizarre UI elements of the Nokia 5800 or the current S60 5th edition for the music phones, must have been an old video pitched to the Nokia marketing department maybe before making a final video I don’t know  but still seems weird. BTW Nokia are finally taking Ovi more seriously a lot of videos have surfaced with Ovi being the main service being heavily advertised which is good because I like Ovi and I am sure a lot more people would if they just got rid of some of the services and concentrated on the more important ones such as Ovi maps, Ovi store and maybe Ovi files.

Nokia Rumored to Build New Ovi Browser

Found under: Nokia , Ovi Browser , Smartphone , , Nokia despite shipping the most handsets out there year after year its still trailing behind in the smartphone game. The Nokia N8 is not yet here to try to fight against the iPhone 4 or the Motorola Droid X and thats clearly what Nokia is missing. The Finnish company is also in need of a proper mobile platform and Symbian3 might be what the doctor ordered but its not quite there yet. Another important part of the smartphone experience is a mobile browser ready to help you get on Read More Read more in mobile format

Ovi Browser?

One of our commenters just dropped a couple links to a new twitter account called “Ovi Browser” and while none of us really knows what or why,  CJ over at ZOMGITSCJ just put up a post somewhat validating this new account. Apparently this twitter account is being published by the “Ovi Daily app” twitter account which lends some credence to the notion that this is an official application. CJ also stumbled upon a page http://browser.ovi.com/ as well as a Nokia Beta-Labs page for this same “app/service” http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/ovi-browser .

Nokia Messaging on the N8

Nokia Messaging gets demoed on the N8 and I have got to admit it looks very nice ! A very functional e-mail app and with the rumoured N8-01 (qwerty version with 4 inch screen) it could be a killer combination for business users and e-mail addicts alike. BTW with subtle UI improvements like the long click touch or whatever you call it being very useful in this case, I have some high hopes for Symbian 4 with the full UI transformation coming early next year. via www.blog-n8.fr

A Great New Series: Check Out LadyGeek.TV!

There is a new video series that I have recently discovered that is simply fantastic.  Created, filmed and edited by a talented group of ladies in London, LadyGeek.tv is an outstanding series of videos that give reviews and peeks into great applications for your mobile device. In my opinion, too many techie review sites simply pump out short reviews that explain the cool features of whatever app is hot at the moment, without explaining why a typical smartphone user would find it interesting.  LadyGeeks sets out to give you a theme of apps for a certain purpose.

Shortly before Christmas last year Vodafone announced a range of online services that would be branded Vodafone 360, promising a set of integrated internet services for mobile and PC, with an aim to change the way people accessed content on the move. Can your Nokia N97 mini do this? Single touch detuning.

A week on from Nokia’s N97 mini being tarred with the same antennagate brush , I thought that since Apple is dragging out the issue by now poking fun at Moto’s Droid X on the weekend, we might check out the real problem which was wonderfully cloaked by antennagate. Wonderfully, El Jobso evaded the issue of a fundamental design flaw in the iPhone 4 by changing the subject from a detuning issue (whereby touching the external antenna at the joint with a single finger SHORTS your signal) to a signal attentuation issue (“holding your phone causes some signal drop in ALL smartphones”) “It turns out it’s certainly not unique to the iPhone 4″ – SJ Note the difference – BLOCKING the antenna (with some of the most awkward, natural holds, and even then competitor handsets don’t completely drop your call), BRIDGING a gap by normal* hold (due to simply touching bridges the gap).  *Normal as in most every way you could hold a phone.
