Nokia N8 Schematics Confirm Broadcom BCM2727 GPU

When the N8 was first unveiled a lot of people were left disappointed and questioned the choice of CPU used a lot of rumblings have gone on and now Nokia have confirmed that the N8 will use some Broadcom BCM2727 GPU which according to Broadcom will for ‘high-quality multimedia features for mobile phones and advanced media players while retaining long battery life’. In this case, long battery life means up to three hours of 720p HD video capture on your Nokia N8. Anyway the N8 showed impressive GPU performance as reported way back when by Jay here And here is a close up picture of the GPU Thanks to Andre for the heads up via finestphones.com

New Meego Screenshots added

In the mist if yesterdays disappointment we completely forgot to post some slightly newer images of the Meego interface. Now Eldar has already said that this is not the interface for their first Meego device by Nokia but I still think its important and significant, this could be the stock version like they have on the Android platform.

Windows Phone 7 Gets Some Respect

Windows Mobile used to be a top player in the mobile world.  Along with Nokia, Palm and Blackberry, Windows Mobile ruled the enterprise market with its built-in support for exchange messaging and ability to run Windows Mobile applications. Like some other former top brands, Windows Mobile (now called Windows Phone 7) lost steam and therefore have given up significant market share in recent years.

Nokia 5250 leaks online!

It would appear Nokia are as loose lipped as Samsung at the moment as the Finns have also let slip about an upcoming product on the Ovi Store support site. Details are thin on the ground at present with all we have to go on based purely on one image but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. The device in question, the Nokia 5250, is a touchscreen candy-bar phone that looks set to join the 5800 , 5230 and 5530 family of music-centric touchscreen devices.

Opera Mini State of the Mobile Web June 2010

Opera have released their State of the Mobile Web report for June 2010, and as well as general browsing habits they have also looked at visits to mobile sports websites, to tie in with the recent World Cup. Opera Mini is available on a wide range of handsets, across all platforms and handset types. The app really comes into its own on mid range devices that come with an average default web browser, but is even popular on Android devices and the iPhone, even though the default browser on those products is generally very good.

QWERTY packing Samsung Galaxy Q in the pipeline!

Samsung are rumoured to be prepping a QWERTY version of the recently released (and current Android top dog) Galaxy S based on a spec sheet that found its way on to Samsung’s Download Support page. Whilst there was no accompanying image, the spec sheet was fairly detailed and looks to point to a high-end touchscreen-qwerty hybrid though at present we can only guess on the form factor.
