Indo-US defence contracts

Found this link via a Twitter update from @pragmatic_d : After his US trip, Ajai Shukla draws three significant observations about Indian defence purchases from the US : And that is my second big impression: that India is not yet a part of the high table. When one of America’s long-standing defence partners — the UK or Australia or Japan — makes a request, whether for high technology, or early delivery of an important weapon system, a quick wink from Foggy Bottom (the Washington neighbourhood where the US State Department is headquartered) gets the department’s notorious bureaucracy to crank out a quick “yes”

A little disturbing..

Having coveted diamonds in the past and an iPhone now, reading this Guardian story on how chemicals involved in the manufacture of the Apple devices makes me wonder about the nature coveting in general. Saint, in a short but hard-hitting post , points out the significance of this complaint: This is the first time such a high level police complaint has been lodged against some of the top officials of a state govt. It must be quite obvious that an ordinary citizen of India or a villager will never be able to file such a police complaint, it never happened thus far.

Demystifying Jihad

In a relevant discussion as the media heats up their new blue-eyed boy [scumbag] Kasab, Vamsi demystifies the attainment of heaven or the 72 Hoories after dying in waging a holy Jihad: In the case of Hadith … the Hadith is a Historical Record of the ”directions or orders’ of Prophet Mohammed … which are to be seen on a case to case basis … and are relevant only when he was alive some centuries ago.
