First Solar: For High-Risk Investors Only

Filed under: Stocks to Buy The first play with First Solar ( FSLR ) did not work out, to say the least: stopped out at $115 after an initial buy recommendation at $184.50 on June 2, 2009 . Talk about haircuts. Well, the calculation here is that FSLR is now slightly undervalued at $116, but the qualifiers abound for this play, so attention is advised

Buying Euros, Selling Dollars A Slam-Dunk Winning Strategy? Not Quite

Filed under: International Markets , Forecasts Thinking about diversifying a portion of your portfolio out of the dollar, and in to, perhaps, other hard currencies, such as the euro? About six months ago, selling dollars and to buy euros appeared to be such a slam-dunk, no-risk investment move. After all, the United States was and will continue to record $1 trillion-plus deficits that are destined to result in further weakening in the dollar in 2010

GPS location sharing to Facebook now on Verizon Wireless VZ Navigator 5.0

Verizon Wireless’ latest release of VZ Navigator 5.0 has taken mobile GPS navigation to a whole new level.  They have integrated the VZN service with Facebook, what this means is you can update your status from the app, and even share your locations with friends.  This is an option of course, you don’t have to share your location when you post to your FB status. On the other end of things, they have enabled a Roadside Assistance service.  You can send your location to a dispatcher who will send out help much faster then in the past.

Motorola to make the next Google phone?

We’ve yet to experience the Google Nexus One here in the UK but if reactions across the pond are anything to go by, the first Google phone is a bit of a mixed bag. Heralded as the best Android phone to date by many but susceptible to software and network faults according to others (not helped by Google’s customer service which, to be fair, is still in its infancy), the jury’s still out on the HTC built Nexus One. The same can’t be said for the Motorola Droid (which we can expect to launch here later this month as the Motorola Milestone ) which was incredibly well received stateside and tipped as the phone to reverse Motorola’s fortunes.

LG announce their highest fourth quarter earnings

The recession has had massive global repercussions, from a significant downturn in consumer spending, through irritating alliterative media inventions (credit crunch!!) right down to morale levels. I for one considered selling a kidney to free up some extra cash. Fortunately the recession hasn’t hit LG’s product line as they continue full steam ahead with some great 2010 innovations.

LG InTouch Max GW620 reviewed

Techradar.com have posted their review of LG’s first android phone, the InTouch Max GW620, awarding it 4 out of 5 stars! The review states “LG has clearly thought about what users want from a phone like this”, listing the easy to use slide out QWERTY keyboard, high quality 5.0 mega-pixel camera, effective social networking overlay and it’s reasonable price as highlights. Their main complaint with the phone is the use of the S-class UI (user interface) system, which the reviewer personally struggled with, but also conceded that it can be turned off according to preference. The review concludes by describing the GW620 as “a real case of how to make Android work without over-complicating things” echoing the President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, Dr.
