Google I/O Day 1 : A Brief Summary

Google kick started its Google Input / Output conference yesterday ( 19th May) and the first day of Google I/O was very exciting. Day One has lot for developers and some interesting views and applications based on HTML 5. Lets take a look at what Google’s I/O Day 1 was all about : Google / Opera / Mozilla ( Mozilla has been a supporter of Ogg Theora ) and several other companies join hands to adopt an open Web video codec called ‘ WebM’ which is seen as a direct competitor to the ‘ Apple backed ‘ H.264 codec

A Chinese website called Taobao.com has posted a few images that suggest the next-gen iPhone may come in two models: One with a black front panel (like all iPhone and iPod touch models before it), or one with a white front panel. Judge Orders that Search Warrant for Lost Next-Gen iPhone Be Unsealed

The search warrant that was used to seize evidence related to the stolen next-gen iPhone that Gizmodo wrote a story on , has been ordered unsealed. Now, CNET did some crack reporting and obtained the documents , and it comes down to this: Jason Chen, the editor at Gizmodo that covered the story, was considered a suspect for three felonies: purchase or receipt of stolen property, theft of trade secrets, and malicious damage to another person’s property. The affidavit also includes testimony from the finder of the iPhone, Brian Hogan, had received some $8500 from Gizmodo for the phone, and the potential for a bonus if Apple actually released the device later this summer.

A few years ago, as the possibilities of the mobile internet were only just becoming clear, one of the ‘killer applications’ that was often talked about was the ability to get email on the move. Most commentators were of agreement, that being able to access email on the go would be the one feature that would really push the sale of mobile internet enabled devices. These days, we seem to take the access to email wherever, whenever, for granted.
