The ghost of DoT (Department of Telecommunication, India) has again come back in the lives of RIM, Skype and Google. The Indian governement has asked these companies that they should share the email data with the Indian telecom and information authorities. If any of these companies fail to produce the data which is not complaint to the department’s standards, Indian government might block or ban these companies to operate in India. As of now there is no official statement from any of these three companies but given the sheer size of the population, who use these services in India, I am sure the companies and the government would figure out a way around this issue.
