A few people have noticed that I’ve lost a fair amount of weight recently…. and they’ve been asking me why… well apart from wanting to get into much better shape. I also decided to run a half marathon for charity! I have never been a runner but I wanted to do something to repay the fantastic care that Willen Hospice provided to my Father in Law during his final weeks.

Download Ovi Maps free, forever

It has been a tough period for Nokia over the last 12 – 18 months. Although still the market leader in mobile phones, very slowly the lead they have over the competition has been eroded away as manufacturers like Samsung flood the market with capable devices that compare favourably with price and functionality to Nokia devices in similar market segments. Then there are HTC , providing amazing smartphones running Windows Mobile and Android, manufactured either under their own name or rebranded for others

Forget about apps on the Kindle and focus on content

Larry pointed out this morning in his post that Amazon is opening up the Kindle for application development and I wanted to chime in with my thoughts since I am a huge ebook reader fan. The geek in me likes to see new devices through in everything, but the kitchen sink. However, as I have stated before I want my ebook experience to be void of distractions so I can just read my book.

LG GT540 Review

One of the big news stories for 2010 is the continued growth of Android powered devices. Android allows manufacturers to produce high end smartphone style handsets, which usually sell for a premium price, for a lower cost. Whilst some Android devices will still retain a high cost to consumers, there are signs that Android devices will come to market at a more mid range price, giving smartphone access to a wider audience

Yahoo’s Challenges Deploying Asterisk Corporate-wide

At TMC’s ITEXPO, Yahoo’s Jeremy Wadhams revealed not only that Yahoo! has deployed Asterisk corporate-wide, but the challenges he faced in adopting Asterisk throughout the organization, including several Yahoo! branch offices , several acquisitions of other companies, including Dialpad & Overture, as well as the usual corporate culture and politics to contend with, Jeremy demonstrated Yahoo!’s interesting custom web application which integrates their flavor of Asterisk with web-based email & voicemail, corporate directory, as well as the ability for users to reset their voicemail PINs themselves – the bane of every IT administrator’s existence. One interesting tidbit was that it he figured after reaching 25% penetration, the last 75% would be a cakewalk. It didn’t turn out that way.

WowWee Cinemin Swivel pico projector review

As with all other pico projectors, you’d be unwise to expect too much in terms of picture and sound quality from the Cinemin Swivel. But its swivel mechanism, which lets you project movies onto the ceiling, is a pleasing touch, and its included iPod and iPhone adaptor is also welcome
