India Registers 1 Million .com and .net Domain Names

A recent industry briefing released by VeriSign Inc, a provider of Internet infrastructure services, has shed light on the steadily growing dot com industry in India. According to its Domain Name Industry Brief (DNIB) , India has registered a total of 1.037 million .com and .net domain names. Notable statistics revealed in the report are that globally new .com and .net registrations were added at an average of 2.7 million per month in the first quarter of 2010 for a total of 8.1 million new registrations in the quarter.

FIFA Fever: India Ranks 3rd In FIFA Search Queries On Google

So what if we Indians do not have a good enough Football squad to qualify for the FIFA World Cup, the huge fan following of Soccer in India has brought us a big laurel already! According to some recent data on search trends in India released by Google, India ranks 3rd among top 10 countries in the volume of search queries on Google pertaining to Soccer and FIFA World Cup 2010 (which is scheduled to kick-start in two days from today) .
