iSatphone pro hands on Inmarsat’s global satellite phone that we got wind of earlier this year has now become available by various satellite phone providers, Satworx being one of them and is also appearing on eBay .  Their $495 price tag for the the iSatPhone Pro seems steep at first, but if you’re operating an adventure travel business, disaster-readiness operations or just visiting remote locations then this handset is an invaluable investment.  A monthly fee of $19.95 will give you 75 cents per minute talk time.  Satworx says that is cheaper than competing satellite phone company plans by 65%.

HTC EVO 4G can match the iPhone 4 any day!

With the release of the U nlocked IPhone 4 a few days ago, many developers and phone manufacturers have now started paying attention and worrying that their sales would drop. However, one manufacturer that does not worry about the iPhone 4 is that of Sprint as according to the Chief Financial Officer of the Company, while the iPhone might have certain features that stand out against other manufacturers, HTC’s EVO 4G, carried by Sprint, can hold its own and prevent current users  from flocking to the iPhone. There might be some truth in this considering EVO is the first 4G mobile launched in the country.

Video: Interview (Grilling) with Nokia Imaging Legend, Damien Dinning (@PhoneDaz)

With the summery barbecue weather, Steve Litchfield grills the legend of Nokia and Nseries imaging, Damien Dinning (@PhoneDaz) who’s been instrumental in refining Nokia’s imaging handsets such as, N73, N95, N82, N86 and of course N8! Very interesting points: AMOLED vs TFT – this one apparently better in day light than traditional AMOLED – usable in sunlight, of course fantastic viewing angles, richer colours, better contrast than TFT 3.5 vs 3.7″ screen – not due to price, but balance of capabilities and design (i.e. size, consumption of battery with larger screen) Tempered Glass – It’s Gorilla Glass, highly scratch resistant Why N8 taking so long to market – optimizing N8, still tweaking to get it absolutely right (so Steve can’t complain!) How does pixel density of sensor compare to iPhone 4 – Biggest sensor on mobile devices and some digicams. Same pixel size as iPhone 4 but at 12 Megapixels and not 5.

Nokia N8 Sample Pics: With and without Xenon Flash

Matthew Bennet, Nseries US Tnkgrl shows us the Xenon flash of the N8 in action (pre-production firmware) against no flash. You can see that in low light, the subject gets more detail, and more accurate colours. Most LED flashes would give off a slight blue tinge and aren’t really useful as when you want to use flash to light up a scene, only real xenon will do.
